For my little goldfish

My Japanese friend Yuka gifted me three miniature goldfish a couple of days ago. I’ve always admired these silent and peaceful creatures and to get a sense of them have a beautiful aquarium screensaver that keeps me company most of the day.

Ever since they came home, there is an intense desire to nurture these delicate little lives. So beautiful and full of life, one could not resist writing a couple of lines for them.

1.Saffron, willowy

three gold flecks, sisters perhaps

frolic in the sphere

bright brocade shimmering cool

delicate ripples of light.

2.Diaphonous fins

gossamer sheaths over gold

a song in orange

trusting agile sensitive

three pairs of black circles rise.

3.Serene and placid

a crystal water palace

orange resonance

lips, perpetual quivers

eyes, trusting circles of light.

4.Saffron fireflies

echoes in a crystal frieze

gold slivers quiver

bubbles burst at the surface

little mouths quench their thirst.
